My research interests are mainly in information and knowledge management with the use of Semantic and Social Web technologies, such as ontologies and folksonomies. I hold a PhD in Informatics from Manchester Business School, an MPhil in Computation from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST), and a BEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. I have contributed to the 5th, 6th, and 7th Framework Programme of the European Community, through participation in ROLE (IST-2009-231396), DEMO-net (IST-2006-27219), CASPAR (IST-2005-33572), and PARMENIDES (IST-2001-39023). I am currently involved in two European projects, ROLE and OpenScout, working on Semantic Web technologies for adaptive Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) and Open Educational Resources (OERs).
